about

The first movement of the album comes to a close with a question, not an answer.

After the two opening tracks take us to the site of honest and painful introspection leaving us disturbed and unsettled, the question for a way forward is raised. We live our lives in search for a sense of purpose, a sense of belonging, a sense of home. Where can we go to satiate these kinds of ontological desires?

Whoever wrote that hyper-emo Augustana song said it best: “She said… 'You don’t know me / you don’t wear my chains / I think I’ll go to Boston / I think I’ll start a new life / I think I’ll start it over, where no one knows my name'"

Boston! What a great metaphor to carry the longing for an internal change of scenery.

This set’s the stage for Movement #2 - a 9 minute song about Mark Driscoll.

lyrics

I think we know it doesn’t matter where we go
Fire or sun, cold from the shadows it’s begun

Where could we go?

I think our home floats through this ocean of hope
Summer or snow, hold stead the sorrows it’s begun
